Networking all these years has offered me wonderful friendships that have outlived any job I've had in the past. I suppose that's why I love it so much. When a very dear friend and former client reached out to me offering me the opportunity to tour and receive a treatment at Spavia Lincoln Park, I very gratefully accepted. It's almost as if she read my mind...or saw the tension in my shoulders. Whichever one comes first!
Spavia felt like home immediately. A wide array of skincare and mineral cosmetics to choose from with a pretty large service menu ranging from waxing to massage to facials. I indulged in the Vitamin C Facial which was divine. I think a testament to my relaxation came by way of a heavy snore midway through the arm massage. Embarrassed much? Yes, indeed...I really gotta work on my sleeping habits.
My esthetician spoke to me about my skincare needs and concerns and left me to change into my spa robe. She even asked me what music I prefer to listen to - fancy that! Upon re-entering the room I was treated from the chest up with various scrubs, masks, massages and serums. I'm truly a sucker for Vitamins C products. She told me my skin would look "refreshed" and more youthful. I'm always hard pressed to believe these statements but I'm telling you I did not apply one drop of makeup post-treatment. It was like instant rejuvenation!
I finished the treatment with a cool glass of water and a few moments in their calming relaxation lounge. Heated neck pillow included...gosh, I love those things! And don't think for one minute that their locker room is like any ordinary locker room. I had my very own locker, bath robe and slippers awaiting with giant mirrors and pampering amenities that allowed me to go back to work without feeling greasy or unkept.
What more do I need to say? Despite being in 7 states currently, Spavia is a big spa name with a boutique spa feel. Special thanks to the Spavia staff for giving this mom the star treatment!
In case you missed it, I brought back #Babesgiving in a big way this year. Today, I'm showing you my goodies. No, not those goodies kids! Ghish!
It's always fun to look back on the last 30 days and review life as we know it. Fall is such a busy time of year. It usually leaves me breathless but in the best way. It's been so long since I've done one of these that I felt today appropriate. I've had a bit of a black cloud over my head as of late but TODAY the sun is shining and it's Friday!
I've never been all too loyal to one particular beauty brand. That's changed quite a bit in 2017. I find myself reaching for the staples pretty frequently these days. Let's just say I've figured out who makes the best concealer. I know which matte lipstick stays on the longest and yes, it's worth your precious dollars to spend a little bit more when it comes to these items. Took me 39 years to figure it out but hey - better late than never.
There's a few things that I prioritize when it comes to my skincare regimen...which are completely different from my priorities in my 20's. I suppose that happens. They are as follows:
- Anti-aging benefits
- Reasonably priced
- Ideal for oily skin
The last one is kind of obvious but hey, it needs to be said. ...and I found one that actually accomplishes all of the above: Timeless Skincare. You'd be amazed what $20 can do for your skin!
Okay, real talk. I never get to a spa. And that is not a complaint. I'm of the mindset that if I cannot relax at all - why spend the money? Heck, I can barely get through a no-chip manicure without tapping my toes and telling my manicurist to skip the hand massage complete with warm towel aromatherapy. Yeah, I'm that girl.
I haven't converted entirely but I am damn near close. I recently fell in love with nude lips. Matte, of course, so I thought I'd spill the beans and share my recent favorites. Tried and tested by not only myself but my girls, too. Yes, I have cultivated a team of beauty addicts back at the homestead! The oooooh's and ahhhhh's are quite cute.
February is always such a whirlwind. In some aspects, I like that it's a short month because it signifies the end of what usually is a long winter. On the other hand, everything feels rushed. So, today, I am taking a moment to stop and smell the roses sharing my favorite moments from the month. A ton of QT with our little family and some welcome mail surprises. All in all, not a bad month…filled with color, of course. I think that's the Chicagoan in me - always seeking color on the grayest of days!
Afternoon ladies! Today I’m sharing a quick PSA about an event I am co-hosting here in Evanston. Details below:
Join me at the grand opening of the new MyEyeDr. location in Evanston (2000 Central St., Evanston, IL 60201) on 10/5/16 where you can meet with local eye care professionals to find the perfect eyewear solution for your lifestyle, and engage with image consultants and product specialists to help you find that perfect look.
September came and went in a flash but there were many memorable moments. It also marks my husband's birthday, a new school year and a change in seasons. Truly my favorite time of year, this month was chockfull of memorable moments and events.
Kohler Spa is synonymous with luxury. The best of the best. I've had the pleasure of visiting The American Club in WI for a weekend but never before did I know that luxury was only a short 30-minute drive from my home sans overnight stay.
If you haven't visited the Kohler Waters Spa in Burr Ridge - you're missing out! Located in the Burr Ridge Village Center you can find the spa nestled in the middle between high end shopping, dining, movies and more. One could easily make a day of this destination and come home fully rested and rejuvenated.
