The Dana Hotel and Spa invited me to go "glamping" on Monday. Sounds right up my alley. Anytime I can sit in a tent, don heels and sip white wine...it's a win/win. Plus, I was accompanied by some of my favorite, local bloggers.
The concept behind #campdana was to get a taste of the ultimate urban glamping experience! A staycation if you will.
We all want to be a kid at heart and that's just what this evening was about. We chatted and caught up while enjoying snacks from freestyle food + drink, a DIY project from the award winning spa at dana, s’mores and mixology at Vertigo Sky Lounge and more arts and crafts reminiscent of our days at away camp. We even made DIY body scrubs.
It was seriously just want the doctor ordered. Let's face it...if you're working the grind, staycations are the most accessible breaks you can grab onto. Check out the #campdana experience for yourself. And if you want to check some of the other creative packaging they have, click here. I'm thinking I need to explore the "i am creative" package next time around!
The hardest part of being a mom is leaving your kids. Of course, it makes the return that much sweeter. The other hardest part is when you've got 'em...what do you do with them? Yes, we are now at that age in which I often hear, "Mom, I'm bored." or "What are we gonna do today that's fun?"
Fitness is not a fad. It's a way of life. Once you adopt it into your own, whichever format suits you, it improves just about everything you pursue. Such is the case for Kathleen, owner of SPENGA North Shore. I had the pleasure of attending one of her classes last week. Grateful doesn't even begin to describe how I feel now that Glenview has landed new, fun and innovative ways to get your sweat on. Gym life, sadly, is not the life for me. I loathe gyms, on a side note.
It's not uncommon for girlfriends to joke that I am no fun when we eat out or elbow me about eating like a bird. I don't take it personally. The reality is I eat quite a bit but all day long and rarely in one sitting. I eat with intention and I'm very aware of what I am putting in my mouth. This begs the question:
Why did you go gluten free?
Hi loves! Happy Friday!
Keepin' it short and sweet with my annual survey today. I'd love to hear your feedback. This blog has changed quite a bit in the last two years and I'd like to keep you around a little bit longer. (wink, wink). Please, share your thoughts and you can remain totally anonymous if you like, too.
Hey hey...Happy Friday! The above quote pretty much sums up my week. I've been sniffling and walking around with Vitamin C tablets but I am determined to make a come back. I will not let this cold beat me. In fact, I am dying for a cocktail but I also can't taste anything. In some ways, it's been a good detox week. Funny how that works.
Apologies for the radio silence. I have been bitten by the winter flu bug and I'm still not 100%. But there is no rest for the weary...or moms...as you know. Really, that applies to all parents. But that's a different story for a different day. So! Today's post is not related to fashion but rather, remedies!
"Thank you very much Johanna. That is all."
It's been awhile since I've revisited my writing roots and today seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. It should be noted that I don't have any resolution on the subject. Kind of an uncomfortable spot to be in but life isn't all sunshine and puppy dogs is it?
A fresh start. A clean slate. I love the promise of a new year. For me, it's equivalent to a freshly laundered bed. Jump in and cozy up because we've got 362 days left of opportunity. And while it's easy to get burnt out in marriage, work, in parenting, in friendship, in blogging...taking time off provided me perspective. With that, my first post of the year!
Do you remember 2015's learnings? Me neither! Funny how some things remain the same yet so much has changed. I feel like this list is a little cranky but I really spoke authentically. 2016 was a great year but it had its challenges. I'm actually a bit exhausted from learning so I'm using this last week to recharge my batteries...hence the blog silence. I just need a break from pictures and pressure - truthfully. On the positive front; this has been a great year for family. We have had so much fun and I feel blessed that I have them to keep me grounded. We all need that don't we?
