I gravitate towards color on a daily basis. I often look at women who wear all black and envy their chic fashion taste. A wardrobe of neutrals can never steer you wrong. There are so many bloggers who operate on this palette daily and their feeds inspire me to purge everything and simplify my life. But then...
Typically this dress length swallows me up but paired with the right strappy heel...it's a breath of fresh air considering I often reach for minis. Ladylike but not frumpy which is my own personal death wish as a suburban mom.
And if a dress puts a smile on your face than you should buy it! Kinda like this summer...it put a smile on my face. We did so many cool things as a family and spent so much time outdoors. August is the official swan song and I intend to make the most of every minute.
Have you checked everything off your summer bucket list? What's left? More importantly, what Fall trends are you looking forward to? I was reading Harper's Bazaar online yesterday, in particular, an article on Fall hair trends and they cited waves and knots for 2016. It made me giggle. How many times have we read that over the years? It reminds me of a certain movie quote:
"Well... they're showing a lot of florals right now, so I was thinking..."
"Florals? For spring? Ground breaking."
Happy Tuesday! For super, fun fashion, my dress included, see below as well as my favorite cherry dresses online!

Another day, another OTS top. I'm a one trick pony this summer. Fully aware but who can resist? I'm a sucker for details and those sleeves are just too too good. Speaking of too too good, my top is a whopping $13 and I've linked it below along with similar options that rank pretty high in the cute category!
I'm not saying I am ready for Fall because that would be a sin but I might be ready to bring back denim. Just a little bit each week. I fell in love with this pair from Old Navy - under $50 and linked below - and they keep their shape perfectly. Pretty sure I need a second pair. My top is a steal. I love the mesh details and yep, you guessed it...bell sleeves! At $20, I am pretty sure you need it in your closet, too. It's perfect for cool nights and looks equally cute with cut off and sneaks. My other favorite uniform!
In the spirit of summer festivals, I'm showing you what to wear to Lollapalooza today. A long time veteran of this music mecca, I know firsthand just how sticky, muddy, rainy and uncomfortable festival-going can be so think "less is more." I either aim to wear dresses, like this pink crochet number, or cutoffs. And nothing that I will cry over if it gets trampled on, stained, ripped or wet. Sounds intense right? It is a bit but that doesn't mean you can't look cute while enjoying some of THE best music acts nestled under the Chicago skyline. This fest spans several acres of Chicago public parks featuring every music genre that exists. It's one of my favorite end of summer activities!
When I saw this dress - I had to have it! It's pink and for god's sake...it has pineapples! I know there's only a short window of summer left in Chicago so plan on me wearing it INCESSANTLY! Surprisingly affordable but it sold out rather quickly so I've linked some rather luxe versions for your shopping pleasure!
I would seriously be up the creek if OTS tops went out of style. This I know. Yet, I can't get enough and my latest craze being shades of blue and embroidery. As illustrated with this adorable top in today's post. It's my new fave. In case you missed last week, find more blue here and here!
I wasn't kidding when I told you this was the season of blue pinstripe was I? I. cannot. get. enough. This bell sleeve top is giving me all the feels. I cannot get over those sleeves. Ruching and bells...I'm fainting. And it's a nice changeup to break away from denim cutoffs...I am sure you'll agree since that's my usual uniform! NPIRE London is a new-to-me site with super cute, trendy apparel. Case and point, this top is a whopping $22! I'm excited to pair it with white pants and denim as the temps start to cool off!
You guys! I have fallen in love with the most charming LWD dress and this gorgeous cocktail ring. I wear it with cut-offs, with dresses <duh!>, with denim...you name it! It is this gorgeous, champagne color and adds pizazz to just about any outfit. Have you heard of 7 Charming Sisters? I discovered the brand last year and fell in love with their affordable and chic designs.
This is the summer of blue and white pinstripe tops for me. I swear every top I've acquired this season has had this theme. Luckily, OTS tops have not one out of style or I would be in real trouble! How cute are the embroidered roses? Keeping it short and sweet today as I will be out on shoots all day...
I have never met a summer dress that I didn't like...unless it was revealing. That's a different story! Which begs the question: how cute is this tribal lace up version? It's a mere $48 and I love love love the details...poms, print, flare sleeves...all of my favorite things! Isn't it so refreshing to ditch the layers and bare those legs again? I love it!
My style has evolved over the years and I've quickly adopted the" less is more" theory. For example, if you're going to show more skin on top, cover up on the bottom and vice versa. This does not remove "sexy" from the equation, however. I believe you should flaunt what you've got and for me...it's always the legs. I'd like to think that after decades of ballet class and most recently, a pretty dedicated workout routine that "I've still got it"...as they say.
