When I opened up the box containing this dress, only one thought entered my mind. "I'm going to save this dress for future proms and homecomings." It's true. I immediately envisioned my girls on their way to a school dance.
But first, I have to get a few wears in because it is too exquisite for words. Holy pink sparkles!
I can't tell you how little I get to break out these heels which would ultimately make them a very non-sensical purchase but hey, I'm a woman. We do this from time to time. Hands in the air if you agree with me!
The jeweled waist band is my favorite feature on this Teeze Me dress. Gimme all the glitter and stat!
The most hilarious part about this shoot was the aftermath. My dress dispensed quite a fair amount of glitter from the tulle skirt in and around my car. Fast forward to Saturday when my girls got in to run an errand with me and Lola muttered, "Mom, why is there glitter everywhere?"
My response? "...because it's mom's car. I leave a trail of sparkle wherever I go."
What? I had to. It was right there. I'd like to think my girls think I'm some magical unicorn...for now.
I think this dress would be so amazing at a wedding or even a NYE fete. It's surprisingly comfortable to move in and the skirt swishes and sways with every movement. I'd be lying if I said it doesn't evoke numerous twirl sessions pre + post shoot!
And take advantage, ladies because Teeze Me is offering free ground shipping on all domestic orders which is great news when you have to order multiple fancy dresses and can't make a decision. (cough, cough...not that I've been there!)

I have never met a summer dress that I didn't like...unless it was revealing. That's a different story! Which begs the question: how cute is this tribal lace up version? It's a mere $48 and I love love love the details...poms, print, flare sleeves...all of my favorite things! Isn't it so refreshing to ditch the layers and bare those legs again? I love it!
My style has evolved over the years and I've quickly adopted the" less is more" theory. For example, if you're going to show more skin on top, cover up on the bottom and vice versa. This does not remove "sexy" from the equation, however. I believe you should flaunt what you've got and for me...it's always the legs. I'd like to think that after decades of ballet class and most recently, a pretty dedicated workout routine that "I've still got it"...as they say.
Camisoles can decidedly dress up just about every pair of denim you own. I get bored with graphic tees at times and opt for something more feminine. Don't get me wrong...I think every girl should have an arsenal of different tops for their moods, especially if your go-to uniform is denim!
Summer arrived and I wasn't even prepared. In the best way possible! Packing up warm weather tops and cut-offs for Mexico seemed only temporary but Chicago had something special in store when I returned!
One tequila. Two tequila. Three tequila. Floor!
Hi folks! I just returned from a stint in Guadalajara, Mexico with some amazing Chicago influencers. I cannot wait to share the 4-day recap with you...but that's going to take some time to curate. On the other hand...now you understand my radio silence last week. Sorry...#notsorry. It was AMAZING!
In approximately eight minutes <as I write this...> I turn another year older. One more year! I could write you this long diatribe about what I've learned this year but we'll save that for my NYE recap. I'll give you the cliff notes. This year I learned one thing:
If there is one thing you can count on Chicago for - it's raging mood swings when it comes to weather. It's totally insane. For example, last week I wore this "almost leather" skirt to our seminar and meetings. Yesterday it was 92 and I was wearing a sundress. I surrender. Don't I say this every year actually?
I'm breaking out the sundresses. It's official. <REJOICE> I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had one of the best Mother's Day celebrations thus far. The weather was gorgeous. We hit the zoo, ate lunch outside, took in all the flowers at the Lincoln Park Conservatory and topped it off with a froyo date. It was amazingly perfect and I am so grateful for this little family of mine.
This weekend was gorgeous topped with birthday parties, family time and some light errand running. Still a ways away from shorts and sandals weather but getting close. I've had this trench for some time and I am always happy to break it out again. It's one of my favorite basics. It's funny when you purchase something that you aren't ultra excited to wear but then find it's one of your most trusted pieces a decade later. I suppose that's a testament to our personal style evolution.
It's always fun to look back and conjure up creative ways to reinvent your wardrobe. It's also a best practice. As my husband so aptly put it the other day, "Are we in the 'wear once' mindset or what?" He asked this after I rented a dress from Rent the Runway. And he's probably right...I have many dresses in my closet but that's a different story for a different day!
