Piggybacking off of last week's post about mindful health, I'm sharing one simple thing that has changed the way I run my day. Or shall I say, how the day used to run me! It's super simple - a breakfast smoothie. Sure, working out makes a difference and so does eating colorfully, however; ultimately my day really starts with breakfast which I've been skipping for at least the last seven years. Nuts right? Starbucks has made a lot of money off of this girl!
Today I'm sharing the first of my smoothie series on Instagram. Follow along to get a new recipe each week.
P/S These aren't grainy, gritty, boring smoothies. Think again! It's like a cheat shake for breakfast. I actually looking forward to making them and it's forced me to use fresh ingredients on a more regular basis.
Time for a recipe share...
🍇🍇 Greek Islander: 1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt, 1/4 cup pomegranate juice, 1/2 cup blackberries, 3/4 water, 2 fresh basil leaves, 1 scoop of protein powder. Just add ice!
🍫 Nuts for Chocolate: 1 tbsp. almond butter, 1 tsp. almond extract, 1 cup of almond milk, 1 scoop of protein powder. Just add ice!
🍓🍓 Strawberry + Oats: 1 cup of almond milk, 2 tbsp of rolled oats, 1 scoop of strawberry whey powder. Just add ice!
What do you guys start your day with? Any smoothie recipes worth sharing?
The Shamrock Shake has once again made its annual appearance. And while this may be a favorite childhood treat for many, including myself, I went on a quest this year to find a healthier version. One that my entire family would love. Selfishly, this is also how I start my day so really, it's about killing two birds with one stone.
In an attempt to eat "healthier" this past Super Bowl Sunday, I found a recipe in, none other, but Blissful Basil's newest cookbook for a fresh take on sliders. The recipe does not exist online but I found a similar version to share with you today.
Greetings friends. Happy Monday! I'm all over the place with this blog content schedule but I digress. I spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen yesterday and wanted to share this bright, colorful dish as it takes 30 minutes to whip up and it's oh-so-healthy. I will be making this again and again. Not only did I feel full but I felt healthy.
Afternoon friends! How was your weekend? I flew in and out of Nashville for a social media speaking engagement with my partner for Oak St. Social. Whew! It was a whirlwind weekend but so much fun!
My husband purchased a new grill last month and it finally arrived over the weekend. First up on his list was to smoke a turkey breast. It was amazing but that's a post for a different day. I was charged with the sides which is truly my favorite chore of any meal.
Sorry for the profanity folks but that's the name of the recipe. I kid you not.
When my husband told me about this recipe I felt that sure...it's probably going to be a good sandwich. In all actuality: it's the best Fu*#$ng sandwich I've ever bit into.
My husband and I love ramen. I should clarify - my husband thinks about ramen 4 days out of 7 days a week. He's slowly becoming an expert. We've even made a family field trip out of it to expose the girls to this delicious fare.
After an overwhelming response to this Instagram post; it was only fitting that I share how I learned to poach the perfect egg. There's no real huge trick except for using vinegar (NO SALT) and creating a whirlpool with your spoon. I perfected this technique over the last seven years and it's a no fail. It does take practice though!
Guys! I'm testing a new series. Sunday's Made Simple. #101SSS Every Sunday, part of my New Year's resolution, I am committed to testing a new recipe in efforts to cook more wholesome meals for my family. It doesn't have to be souffle city - just something to warm their tummies. Anything to reduce wasted carry out dollars!
It's smoothie time! Remember my August post? Well, I've been busy in the kitchen mixing, tasting and well, downing daily smoothies just for you. And because...well, it's good for you which is the best part about drinking liquid chocolate! Am I right?
