My girls were fortunate to have inherited my husband's lush, wavy hair. Which also means I have the good fortune of chasing after them with a brush in hand every morning as I try to detangle snarls and style their hair for the day. Oh the fun we have! That changed when SoCozy showed up on our doorstep. (found at Target.com)
My family was sent the entire SoCozy collection to try out. They must have known that I was working up a sweat in the bathroom. I have to tell you that I will never purchase my former kiddo shampoo/conditioner of choice every again. Here's why...
First off - the scents are amazing. Olivia chose the Mango Cinch Shampoo + Conditioner + Body wash. (we're into mangoes these days) She smelled so good that I wanted to eat her. Tell me other moms say this kinda stuff out loud or is it just me? It's not over-powering and it rinses out uber quick which is key because someone is always complaining about soap in their eyes!
Lola chose the Guava Cinch Shampoo + Body Wash. It's hard to say which one I like better, however; both girls audibly said, "Mmmmmm" so I'm thinking we have a real winner here.
Second - SoCozy products are non-toxic and made without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, propylene glycol, gluten, wheat or nuts. These things are important to me as I'm trying educate myself more on the harsh-hard-to-pronounce chemicals found in so much of our daily lives.

Next up - the Detangler. I've tried them in the past and never really saw a difference. We love the SoCozy Detangler because the scent, Tutti Frutti, was a hit and it actually worked! This is going to sound weird but I especially liked the nozzle. It mists your kiddos' hair instead of drenching it. Seconds later, I was gently pulling the comb through with nary a snarl in sight.
Bath time is so successful now that both girls literally asked me to take their picture with said product. #truth. No mom blogger bribery involved.
SoCozy also makes styling tools for all hair types which I love because morning birds' nests require extra strong coffee AND they have Lice Prevention products, too!
Brilliant...another one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments! Leave it to a mom to invent genius yet safe products. Moms rule the world!

There's a few things that I prioritize when it comes to my skincare regimen...which are completely different from my priorities in my 20's. I suppose that happens. They are as follows:
- Anti-aging benefits
- Reasonably priced
- Ideal for oily skin
The last one is kind of obvious but hey, it needs to be said. ...and I found one that actually accomplishes all of the above: Timeless Skincare. You'd be amazed what $20 can do for your skin!
Okay, real talk. I never get to a spa. And that is not a complaint. I'm of the mindset that if I cannot relax at all - why spend the money? Heck, I can barely get through a no-chip manicure without tapping my toes and telling my manicurist to skip the hand massage complete with warm towel aromatherapy. Yeah, I'm that girl.
I haven't converted entirely but I am damn near close. I recently fell in love with nude lips. Matte, of course, so I thought I'd spill the beans and share my recent favorites. Tried and tested by not only myself but my girls, too. Yes, I have cultivated a team of beauty addicts back at the homestead! The oooooh's and ahhhhh's are quite cute.
February is always such a whirlwind. In some aspects, I like that it's a short month because it signifies the end of what usually is a long winter. On the other hand, everything feels rushed. So, today, I am taking a moment to stop and smell the roses sharing my favorite moments from the month. A ton of QT with our little family and some welcome mail surprises. All in all, not a bad month…filled with color, of course. I think that's the Chicagoan in me - always seeking color on the grayest of days!
Afternoon ladies! Today I’m sharing a quick PSA about an event I am co-hosting here in Evanston. Details below:
Join me at the grand opening of the new MyEyeDr. location in Evanston (2000 Central St., Evanston, IL 60201) on 10/5/16 where you can meet with local eye care professionals to find the perfect eyewear solution for your lifestyle, and engage with image consultants and product specialists to help you find that perfect look.
September came and went in a flash but there were many memorable moments. It also marks my husband's birthday, a new school year and a change in seasons. Truly my favorite time of year, this month was chockfull of memorable moments and events.
Kohler Spa is synonymous with luxury. The best of the best. I've had the pleasure of visiting The American Club in WI for a weekend but never before did I know that luxury was only a short 30-minute drive from my home sans overnight stay.
If you haven't visited the Kohler Waters Spa in Burr Ridge - you're missing out! Located in the Burr Ridge Village Center you can find the spa nestled in the middle between high end shopping, dining, movies and more. One could easily make a day of this destination and come home fully rested and rejuvenated.
It's no secret that much of how we consume information is through strong visuals. As they say, "a picture can speak a thousand words" and never were those words truer in a culture of Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and the like. And thank goodness for this trend or I'd be outta a job!
It has been ages since I've written a Beauty 411. The truth is...I receive a shit load of beauty products (of which I am very grateful for) and it takes awhile for me to review, test, sniff and trial each product several times. Many do not make the cut and it has nothing to do with price tags. I assure you.
May is always such a crazy month. Sometimes I am relieved to turn the calendar to June but it really is the official kick off to Summer which means I should appreciate the turn of events and weather, right? Right!
