STAY: Public Hotel...new school glamour.

The best part about a STAYcation is the fun in discovering your own backyard. I appreciate my city more and more with each passing visit forcing me to play tourist and unearth all the amazing things Chicago has to offer. Such was the case when I packed up the family for a weekend at Public Hotel.

You might recall my last STAYcation in Milwaukee. I truly enjoy these mini vacas because we, as a family, spend such amazing QT together. I'd be lying if I said that life hasn't gotten busy and we are just running through the weekend before we get bopped over the head with Monday again. It's funny because we wait with anticipation for Friday and it's gone in a flash!

First, let me tell you a bit about Public Hotel. It used to be the old Ambassador East which was iconic for its bourgeoisie clientele. Think Sinatra, Di Nero, Marilyn, DiMaggio and more. If you wanted to take in a scene from the posh life...this is where you planted yourself for a drink.

Fast forward to present day, now Public Hotel, guests are greeted by a swanky lobby flanked with dramatic, curved stairways and an all white aesthetic. Modern accents are present in art, interior architecture and sexy lighting. All of the past memories seep through the walls, you can feel the swank, but in a new, sophisticated manner. I call it "new school glamour."

If I had a spirit animal when it comes to decor...it would be minimalist chic which is exactly what you'll find inside the Public Hotel rooms + suites. Pictured throughout this post is our Mother's Day weekend suite. I was gobsmacked when I walked in the door. And that's not because the hotel staff was incredibly accommodating but because our room was to die for!

It's exactly how I want my home to be once we get past the popsicle/marker phase. So basically in 20 years, this is the aetshetic I want! Surprisingly...my kids did not stain anything. We grabbed breakfasts early in the morning and ate in our spacious dining room...

...and showering was a cinch. They logged on some screen time in the expansive living room while we relaxed and got ready in the chic, master suite. A girl could get used to this! Let's not forget the views either! We're talking nothing but blue with Lake Michigan in plain, unobscured view.

Also recommended...brunch at the Pump Room and cocktails in the Library. Even though Public Hotel reeks of sex appeal, I gotta tell you...it was perfect for our family with its central, Gold Coast location. Wondering what to do once you walk out the front lobby?

Well...we can keep you busy! We hit up Green City Market followed by a two hour walk through Lincoln Park Zoo and a shopping excursion at New City. (more on this later!)

Thank you Public Hotel for a top notch stay and service. We will be back...ok, maybe just the hubby and I! Happy Monday everyone! Catch more of my Public Hotel experience on Instagram!
