Between Lola's birthday party this past weekend, work and a Sunday night concert, I had to take yesterday off from the blog because my anxiety was enough to cause a heart attack alongside a serious case of the Monday's. I was truly in the weeds so rather than beat myself up and try to crank out a poop-tastic post, I thought I'd give you back five minutes of your life and spare myself the pressure of trying to be creative.
And so, I'm back!
The good news is that her party ended up being fabulous which was not the case around 8:00am on Saturday morning when we had biblical thunderstorms and flooding. I kept debating whether or not I should throw some vodka in my coffee mug and call it a day because 31 people in my house with nothing to do sounds like an amazing time....said no one ever!
Thankfully Mother Nature got her act together and Tiki Falls prevailed. Thank Baby Jesus! And because I'm a total over-scheduling moron, we also went to a gigantic play date that night complete with a trampoline, moms + champagne and two over-tired toddlers. It was a fun and full weekend but I need a weekend from the weekend.
Ever happen to you?
P/S This is not what I wore but isn't it the perfect "Let's meet for tea and crumpets" kinda dress? Yup, it's another VIPme review up for your viewing pleasure.
No, no...I was in cut-offs and some variation of a tshirt meets off the shoulder top all weekend depending on what frosting or salsa I spilled down the front! If you only knew...
The black and white phase continues. It's just SO easy to get dressed. I know you all discovered this before me so please forgive. This was yesterday's shoot outfit for a day of schlepping without sacrificing chic.
Monday...we meet again! Hi friends! Back at it again after a busy weekend. I think we are all feeling the same, right? It was full but it was so great. Mom + Dad got a little date night fun in and we pretty much laid around all Sunday. Okay, that was me. I laid around all Saturday. #truth
When you look at me, you probably thing "DANGER." I know. I totally get it. Suburban mom in black. Watch out!
In all honesty, I love an all black ensembles. It's the young girl longing to be a New Yorker in me that never quite dissolved. Coulda, shoulda, woulda right? It's cool.
Greetings! Long time no write or at least it feels like it. Are you guys entering Thanksgiving mode? I feel like we just stored all the pumpkin goodies and I am already seeing Christmas commercials. Heaven help me!
This is a Friday dress. No muss, no fuss. And velvet is right on trend at the moment. Who knew?
No, I actually totally knew and have been hesitant to jump back onto the velvet train, however, when I saw this dress - it was a non-starter.
Attending a college football game 17 years after the fact is a completely different experience. Dare I say - I felt old but I was really glad to be through all the trials and tribulations of my 20's.
My husband and I attended the Iowa/Northwestern game with friends this past weekend and I joked that this was my tailgating attire. It may not have been school gear but I did represent in t-shirt colors!
There's something about a crisp, cold morning that I really love. I think it makes coffee taste that much better. Just a theory I have. By noon, the sun has burned off and what you get is the perfect Fall day that does not necessitate a jacket. My favorite!
I am mourning the loss of another weekend. I feel like October is flying by so quickly. It's insane. From here on out we are going to try and cram as much pumpkin into our schedule as possible. I will admit...the weather has been hovering at this perfect 70ish mark which makes outfit prepping kinda fun still. Not quite in layers but chilly at night.
I'm still feeling the black but this time with a pop of PINK! My all time favorite color. My girls ask me weekly what my favorite color is and every week I tell them the same response - PINK, ALWAYS PINK! They must be really bored with dear old mom.
It's been a dark week already. Hard to lift the cobwebs. I'm on a mission to find some goodness in this world. Luckily that commodity is free with the assistance of two little girls. The best things in life ARE free, indeed.
