Gosh you guys...the weekends are so great but the weeks...they really start out rough. It seems like I've been spinning in circles to get organized and when I finally do...it's Thursday and I just collapse.
By a show of hands, anyone else feel this way? Please say yes...
I used to cringe when people told me growing up, "Just you wait, time flies. Enjoy right now. The years go by quicker and quicker."
Sure, it's true but that doesn't mean I have to like it! Let's be honest, it's November. (I round up once we hit mid-month. I think it's the sales woman in me; we live and die by quotas and end of month goals)
This week I am pledging to take time back. I know my kids get so much of my attention but I need to dedicate more time to my husband and I doing "couple" things and me doing "me" things. I think time moves fast when we don't take a second to pause and breathe. I know I acknowledge the beauty in the ordinary because social media has opened my eyes to the impact of a strong visual. But, more and more I'm seeing the dizzying effects of being on the go and I want to create new time boundaries.
A time to blog. A time for social media. A time to work out. A time to talk. A time to sit down and eat (not stand up). A time to sleep...more. A time to be pampered. A time to laugh more. Do you feel me?
I'm babbling guys but stick with me this week. Tomorrow is a fun post with DSW with more Fall goodness on the way.
My style has evolved over the years and I've quickly adopted the" less is more" theory. For example, if you're going to show more skin on top, cover up on the bottom and vice versa. This does not remove "sexy" from the equation, however. I believe you should flaunt what you've got and for me...it's always the legs. I'd like to think that after decades of ballet class and most recently, a pretty dedicated workout routine that "I've still got it"...as they say.
Camisoles can decidedly dress up just about every pair of denim you own. I get bored with graphic tees at times and opt for something more feminine. Don't get me wrong...I think every girl should have an arsenal of different tops for their moods, especially if your go-to uniform is denim!
Summer arrived and I wasn't even prepared. In the best way possible! Packing up warm weather tops and cut-offs for Mexico seemed only temporary but Chicago had something special in store when I returned!
One tequila. Two tequila. Three tequila. Floor!
Hi folks! I just returned from a stint in Guadalajara, Mexico with some amazing Chicago influencers. I cannot wait to share the 4-day recap with you...but that's going to take some time to curate. On the other hand...now you understand my radio silence last week. Sorry...#notsorry. It was AMAZING!
In approximately eight minutes <as I write this...> I turn another year older. One more year! I could write you this long diatribe about what I've learned this year but we'll save that for my NYE recap. I'll give you the cliff notes. This year I learned one thing:
If there is one thing you can count on Chicago for - it's raging mood swings when it comes to weather. It's totally insane. For example, last week I wore this "almost leather" skirt to our seminar and meetings. Yesterday it was 92 and I was wearing a sundress. I surrender. Don't I say this every year actually?
I'm breaking out the sundresses. It's official. <REJOICE> I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had one of the best Mother's Day celebrations thus far. The weather was gorgeous. We hit the zoo, ate lunch outside, took in all the flowers at the Lincoln Park Conservatory and topped it off with a froyo date. It was amazingly perfect and I am so grateful for this little family of mine.
This weekend was gorgeous topped with birthday parties, family time and some light errand running. Still a ways away from shorts and sandals weather but getting close. I've had this trench for some time and I am always happy to break it out again. It's one of my favorite basics. It's funny when you purchase something that you aren't ultra excited to wear but then find it's one of your most trusted pieces a decade later. I suppose that's a testament to our personal style evolution.
It's always fun to look back and conjure up creative ways to reinvent your wardrobe. It's also a best practice. As my husband so aptly put it the other day, "Are we in the 'wear once' mindset or what?" He asked this after I rented a dress from Rent the Runway. And he's probably right...I have many dresses in my closet but that's a different story for a different day!
Twinning is the new black. I'm sure you knew this! Well, looks like I'm on-trend again because this past Easter my girls and I dressed from head to toe in Lola and the Boys. And it was awesome! We wore their leaf dresses which were more than comfortable to entertain in and play in.
