Body positivity with my kids...an ongoing conversation.

I absolutely cannot take credit for the brand new Eve•ry•bod•y kiddo tees that launched this summer. It was a conversation that manifested into their words, their color palette choices and their designs…now in t-shirt format. Perhaps even more meaningful because it captures their viewpoint of the world and what it means to love yourself. If you missed the first launch, I talked about it here and here.

Body positivity runs deep in our family and now we want to serve our community and remind everyone that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. You must first love and appreciate yourself.

But how does that translate to a t-shirt? How do you have those conversations with your kids?

I won’t pretend to have all the answers BUT I will tell you that starting the dialogue is better than nothing at all. So that’s what we do. It’s given me a moment of “pause” every time I walk by a mirror and critique my stomach or crow’s feet or the way my butt now jiggles at 43.

I started this project to help a community of people, Renfrew Center Foundation, and to instill confidence in my daughters who were becoming aware of their bodies and the stigmas that society places on females. Instead, I think this project helped me a little, too. And the fact that we can donate a portion of all proceeds to Renfrew while shaping and impacting positive mindsets for the next generation…well…that just gives me life and purpose in a whole new way.

If you’re a parent, an aunt, an uncle or a role model in a young person’s life and you see the opportunity to remind them “to be kind to themselves” or that “unique is beautiful,” do it in a way that has some permanence. Support this Eve•ry•bod•y passion project of ours and purchase a tee for the littles in your life. Not only are you spreading positivity to the people that matter most, but your extending therapies and ED treatments to individuals well beyond what their insurance supports.

And that, my friends, is the power of community!

"Community is much more than belonging to something; its about doing something together that makes belonging matter."
