I don't think of myself as a real sexpot. Quite the opposite. I think I've been described as "cute" in the past...in a Barbie sort of way but definitely not va-va-voom! I've been okay with that for years, by the way. But! Every once in a while it's probably a good idea that we stretch our comfort levels and do something out of the ordinary. Like wear lingerie during the daytime.
I was approached by one of the founders of Moi Soli for a collaboration recently. The challenge was simple: showcase that the beauty of their luxe nightwear should not be restricted to the bedroom...or night time for that matter. And, since I love love love to support local Chicago businesses; I accepted this mission.
Easy enough, right? Actually, sorta hard for me. I tend to shy away from showing a lot of skin but this nightdress deserved to be shown off. The gorgeous sapphire velvet and exquisite lace details make it a showstopper and the perfect dress for a cozy date night with the hubby. All it really needs is a fabulous faux fur and a great pair of heels.
Fun fact: The drawstrings can be worn tied crisscross across your chest and tied in back or as a choker as shown in today's post. No jewelry required!
I'm a total sucker for the colors though. The soft blush and deep, navy velvet are what initially drew me in. That and my husband's face when I showed it to him. "Surprise" would be the expression I would use to describe his initial reaction. After all, I did vow to wear less sweatpants in the bedroom this year! Slowly working toward that goal.
Please do check out Moi Soli. This is not your momma's lingerie. This is sophisticated and refined night wear that is deserving of all the women out there that grind out work in a corporate environment, the mommas who are constantly cleaning sticky hands, the women that are the consummate caretakers...all of us deserve something that makes us feel special and a fabulous holiday prezzie, indeed!

I write this post as I browse pink sneakers online. I have no idea how I end up in these rabbit holes. I look at today's outfit post and I do admire a good heel but I dare say...I think I am becoming a sneaker head! Heels offer such a beautiful silhouette but there are so manyyyyyy sneaker options. Is that the mom in me coming out? I think so.
Sooooo...this top. Yeah, I wear it a lot. Whatever happened to the baby doll trend? I miss it. In other news, I just listened to a podcast with Courtney Love. Like whoa. She was an amazing interview. I highly recommend Girl Boss Radio if you like podcasts.
Welcome to V.2 of this bad ass mini skirt. My last post was rocker chic but today is all about the ladylike details. And who doesn't love a good ruffle? #amiright? This was another one of those unexpected pairings because I didn't try this outfit on before we shot it. I just knew two things: 1. I loved the skirt and 2. I am a sucker for stripes and ruffles. Voíla! An outfit is born!
This week I will be showing you two ways to style this AMAZING studded skirt for Fall. At $50, I'm going to make a strong case for your purchase. It's more versatile than you think but you need to remember a few tips:
I've had this top for awhile and had to get some slight alterations. Read: I do not have a chest at ALL! Now that it fits, I truly love it. You guys, it's $11. No joke.
It looks super chic and date night ready with a pair of liquid leggings or leather pants and equally perfect with your favorite blue jeans. I wore this for a weekend city lunch because the spirit moved me but I knew I was going to be with kids.
I referenced Lolla earlier this week and today I'm sharing what I actually wore. This dress has become a fast favorite. I adore the ruffles. It's girlie but universal enough to wear for everyday and as the heat index gave way...I was cool as a cucumber. I realize that sneaks aren't the most obvious choice, and in some ways I didn't care all that much because I knew I was going to get trampled, but now that I think of it -- they kind of work!
One can never have too many white tops. They are a closet staple for me and not all are created equal either. This breezy number is $20 and comes in pink, too. Thinking I may need to acquire the second version. It's forgiving on hot days and the days when you had a bit too much to eat. I wore it in Mexico with shorts and I've already worn it back home with white trousers. It's really a steal of a top and I'm loving the texture. For a more modest look you could pair a white cami with it but I've been wearing it without and feel completely comfortable.
Another day, another OTS top. I'm a one trick pony this summer. Fully aware but who can resist? I'm a sucker for details and those sleeves are just too too good. Speaking of too too good, my top is a whopping $13 and I've linked it below along with similar options that rank pretty high in the cute category!
I'm not saying I am ready for Fall because that would be a sin but I might be ready to bring back denim. Just a little bit each week. I fell in love with this pair from Old Navy - under $50 and linked below - and they keep their shape perfectly. Pretty sure I need a second pair. My top is a steal. I love the mesh details and yep, you guessed it...bell sleeves! At $20, I am pretty sure you need it in your closet, too. It's perfect for cool nights and looks equally cute with cut off and sneaks. My other favorite uniform!
In the spirit of summer festivals, I'm showing you what to wear to Lollapalooza today. A long time veteran of this music mecca, I know firsthand just how sticky, muddy, rainy and uncomfortable festival-going can be so think "less is more." I either aim to wear dresses, like this pink crochet number, or cutoffs. And nothing that I will cry over if it gets trampled on, stained, ripped or wet. Sounds intense right? It is a bit but that doesn't mean you can't look cute while enjoying some of THE best music acts nestled under the Chicago skyline. This fest spans several acres of Chicago public parks featuring every music genre that exists. It's one of my favorite end of summer activities!
