Let's talk about wrap dresses shall we?
First of all, did you have a good weekend? Good! Me, too!
Back to the infamous wrap dress. I've never been a fan. Why? Well, I feel like they draw a bit of attention to my mid-section of which I am not a fan of...at all. For 38 years I've been on + off working on my abs and let's just say that God has not blessed me with a six pack. But that's okay, we move on and accentuate other parts of our bodies like great legs or strong arms. Am I right?
All of this changed when I had the privilege to work with Pink Blush. As a dress fanatic, their dress department cannot be beat. It's generally the first category I click on. And their wrap dresses caught my eye. The patterns were so feminine and graceful. I began to wonder if I should give this whole wrap dress idea a second thought.
So I did and I am really glad I did, too! This trendy online boutique has, in fact, nailed the wrap dress. I chose this coral number because I thought it would transition info Fall nicely. The longer sleeves make a great case for the above! The reason I fell in love with this dress is two-fold...
1. It's made of 5% spandex! Stretchy in all the right places and not the least bit uncomfortable. I appreciate a dress that moves with me. Bonus: no dry cleaning needed either!
2. The sash tie elongates your tummy section while sucking you back in. There's no break in the silhouette. One of my pet peeves is empire waist dresses because I think they make you look heavier. This sash tie hits you at your natural waist which is minimizing.
All you need is a great, neutral heel pulling in the deeper, orangey red tones of the dress and you have #ootd perfection. I wear it to meetings or dinners out.
I love a dress that makes you feel good all over. No tugging or shifting in this beauty. Just confidence. And be sure to check out Pink Blush's maternity section. They really have it all figured out taking you from one life stage to the next. What woman doesn't appreciate that?

My style has evolved over the years and I've quickly adopted the" less is more" theory. For example, if you're going to show more skin on top, cover up on the bottom and vice versa. This does not remove "sexy" from the equation, however. I believe you should flaunt what you've got and for me...it's always the legs. I'd like to think that after decades of ballet class and most recently, a pretty dedicated workout routine that "I've still got it"...as they say.
Camisoles can decidedly dress up just about every pair of denim you own. I get bored with graphic tees at times and opt for something more feminine. Don't get me wrong...I think every girl should have an arsenal of different tops for their moods, especially if your go-to uniform is denim!
Summer arrived and I wasn't even prepared. In the best way possible! Packing up warm weather tops and cut-offs for Mexico seemed only temporary but Chicago had something special in store when I returned!
One tequila. Two tequila. Three tequila. Floor!
Hi folks! I just returned from a stint in Guadalajara, Mexico with some amazing Chicago influencers. I cannot wait to share the 4-day recap with you...but that's going to take some time to curate. On the other hand...now you understand my radio silence last week. Sorry...#notsorry. It was AMAZING!
In approximately eight minutes <as I write this...> I turn another year older. One more year! I could write you this long diatribe about what I've learned this year but we'll save that for my NYE recap. I'll give you the cliff notes. This year I learned one thing:
If there is one thing you can count on Chicago for - it's raging mood swings when it comes to weather. It's totally insane. For example, last week I wore this "almost leather" skirt to our seminar and meetings. Yesterday it was 92 and I was wearing a sundress. I surrender. Don't I say this every year actually?
I'm breaking out the sundresses. It's official. <REJOICE> I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had one of the best Mother's Day celebrations thus far. The weather was gorgeous. We hit the zoo, ate lunch outside, took in all the flowers at the Lincoln Park Conservatory and topped it off with a froyo date. It was amazingly perfect and I am so grateful for this little family of mine.
This weekend was gorgeous topped with birthday parties, family time and some light errand running. Still a ways away from shorts and sandals weather but getting close. I've had this trench for some time and I am always happy to break it out again. It's one of my favorite basics. It's funny when you purchase something that you aren't ultra excited to wear but then find it's one of your most trusted pieces a decade later. I suppose that's a testament to our personal style evolution.
It's always fun to look back and conjure up creative ways to reinvent your wardrobe. It's also a best practice. As my husband so aptly put it the other day, "Are we in the 'wear once' mindset or what?" He asked this after I rented a dress from Rent the Runway. And he's probably right...I have many dresses in my closet but that's a different story for a different day!
Twinning is the new black. I'm sure you knew this! Well, looks like I'm on-trend again because this past Easter my girls and I dressed from head to toe in Lola and the Boys. And it was awesome! We wore their leaf dresses which were more than comfortable to entertain in and play in.
